Hydrotherapy Pool

hydrotherapy pool for hire galway

Hydrotherapy entails whole body exercises that take place in our state of the art 34°C warm water pool. The warm temperature of the water allows

your muscles to relax and eases the pain and stiffness, making it easier to exercise. Hydrotherapy can relieve painful joints, increase the range of movement in your joints and improve your muscle strength.

The power resistance water jets provide resistance for a range of motion exercises, improving the patient’s cardiovascular stamina. The pool is easily accessible to suit all patients and can be accessed by patients in wheelchairs. It is also important to note that you do not have to be able to swim to benefit from aquatic therapy. Our hydrotherapy sessions are conducted by your choice of a chartered physiotherapist or a qualified Cardiac Aqua Exercise Specialist who are highly trained and experienced in hydrotherapy. Hydrotherapy sessions take place on a one to one basis but can facilitate small group sessions if assessed it is safe to do so.

At Central Park Nursing Home, we use an Endless hydrotherapy pool from the United States that is fully equipped with laminar water current technology which your therapist uses to optimise the intensity of your workout. Endless Pools are used by the world's top physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers for rehabilitation and low-impact exercise.

Aquatic therapy can be used to treat a wide variety of health conditions including arthritis, fibromyalgia, orthopaedic injuries, paralysis, stroke rehabilitation and weight loss. Water's natural buoyancy allows people to move in water without the stress of land based exercises. This allows patients to:

  • Increase flexibility and strengthen muscles
  • Alleviate the symptoms of many medical conditions
  • Improve balance and agility
  • Decrease joint swelling and reduce pain

By utilizing the resistance current therapists can monitor a patient's progress and increase the levels of resistance as their progress improves. The current also helps develop strength and endurance.

Hydrotherapy is the safest and most progressive form of rehabilitation because it takes place in a gravity neutral environment, thus decreasing impact and trauma on weight bearing joints during rehabilitation. The simulated weightlessness allows treatment to begin earlier and more safely, allowing the water to accelerate the healing process.

All programmes are specifically tailored to the needs of each individual patient. Our therapy is goal orientated so the patient can achieve results in each session. This approach helps to ensure that the best possible water rehabilitation outcomes are attained.

Benefits of Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy benefits and soothes the body in a number of ways. The low-impact nature of hydrotherapy makes it one of the most successful treatments for bones and muscles. Our heated hydrotherapy pool at Central Park Nursing Home is especially adept in arthritis treatment, in addition to helping relieve pain, strengthen muscles, improve balance and increase fitness generally. Arthritis can be an extremely painful ailment to live with. A major strength of hydrotherapy is to strengthen muscles and mobilise stiff joints, which provides lasting relief from arthritis and muscular injuries.

Testimonials

Dear Megan & Caroline,
I wanted to write to you on behalf of the Gardiner family and thank you for the tremendous care our mother received while in your care for a month and continued support even after returning home which has always been her wish.  She is happy to be finally home but has missed all of you after leaving. You truly embrace the word care in to every aspect of your services, most important and noticeable to me is treating her and every resident with dignity, respect and loving touch that every single human being deserves.

There was and is absolutely nothing more we could ask for. You invited our family in and treated us as if we lived there and were part of your family, offered a room to us when our mother was anxious about being alone, checked on her so often that we had not a single worry when we'd leave, invited us to have dinner with her so that it felt as if she was sitting at home, came to her quickly when we rang the bell no matter what time and each time with a smile on your face and a warm greeting for our mother, opened your kitchen to us 24hrs a day, organized transport for her to visit her home because she just simply wanted to be in her own house. You chef, Frank even came to her with a loaf of your famous currant bread that she loves on the day she was leaving.

Every single member of your staff went above and beyond their call of duty. They couldn't seem to do enough and treated our mother and the other residents as if they were one of their own loved ones. You have not only provided tremendous care while she was there, you helped and continue to help our family with the transition home. It is extremely comforting to be able to have a place to call no matter the hour when we come up against a problem and we have availed of this support many times since her return home.  We have never felt more part of a community than we do now, thanks to you and all your staff. A mere thank you doesn't seem enough.
The Gardiner Family

Thanks a million to all of you who have been so kind to me during my 'reprehensive lapse from perfection' during the last wee while. In the full knowledge that I have no trade-in value whatsoever it has been a comfort to sink into the glooming doom knowing that you've been there for me. I'm most grateful to you all, really and truly. If you should see a wizened old man trudging around Dunmore have a friendly word with him - it might be me! Thank you Maria for letting me exercise my vocal chords in your evangelical vocal sessions. It was fun (or should that be fantasy?). Alright don't go overboard - I might be back! I think the answer is in that you are a reliable team and I am a heartfelt beneficiary so once again I say thanks a million. Psst! Sorry I didn't have a blank cheque on which to write to you! L.B.
Sincerely yours, Lew Beckett

To Caroline, Stella and all the Staff at Central Park Nursing Home
We would like to express our sincere appreciation for all your exceptional care and kindness shown to our mother during the past nine years. It was such a comfort to us to know that Mam received such loving care from wonderful staff. Many thanks for the many cups of tea and lovely home made brack which Mam enjoyed from the ever caring kitchen staff - a real home from home. Mam almost reached her 100th yeah but unfortunately it was not meant to be. We will always remember the exceptional kindness shown to us during her last days in Central Park.

Dear Caroline, Stella and the staff,
Thank you all so much for the wonderful care you gave to our Dad over the past few years. We could not have wished for a better place or more caring and professional staff. We are forever grateful. Warmest regards,
Mary (Ellen) & Seamus and Family

"My late father, Mark Flanagan, spent the last years of his life in Central Park Nursing Home. While there, we witnessed at first hand the great love, respect, care, and attention given to him by all the staff. It truly was a 'home from home' for him and we are forever in the debt of Caroline and her wonderful team."

My mother was here, she was only here for a week and passed away in October 2011.
My Uncle is now residing here. My only regret is that we didn't let my mother live here sooner as she would have enjoyed the friendly atmosphere.

Dear Caroline, Stella and all the staff in Central Park,
We want to thank you all so much for all your kindness, support and care to Dad and ourselves the past few months – ye made us all feel so much at home – it made things so much easier for us all at a tough time. Best Wishes – we will miss you all.

To the Owners and Staff of Central Park Nursing Home
On behalf of my family in America and Ireland, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding care and love that you extended to our mother while a resident of your warm and caring facility. We visited my mother several times during her two years stay at Central Park Nursing. We were always greeted as family and offered a cup of tea or coffee, no matter the hour or time of day. This reception was the same for all ten of Mom's children, grandchildren and extended family. Our mother's final years were filled with loving care, physical comfort and respect. We gratefully thank you for the care that you gave our mother and the many acts of kindness that you expressed to all of us who loved her.
God bless you all,
The Higgins Family

Margaret & Kathleen

Wow Caroline you should be proud!!! I wouldn't even recognize the place! I heard you were expanding good for you. My kids and I have fond memories of visiting granny there. You and your staff took wonderful care of her. I have to tell you my daughter Nicole wants to be a nurse and is heading off to college in September and had to write an essay about why she wanted to become one and she wrote part of the essay on her Granny Pop as she called her being in such a nice place and that she wanted to be one of those kind people that took care of her Granny and how the nurses were so nice to her Granny and gave her jobs to do so she would feel at home! She came up with this essay idea all by herself and of course we past it onto the family and there wasn't a dry eye!! Congrats and continued success you and your staff are doing a great job keeping our elderly people safe and happy. All the best to you all in 2013!

Dementia Care

399125 331072766988990 615789025 nMemory Lane is our specialised wing for residents who suffer with Dementia. Here, you will find their own personal kitchen and sitting rooms to sit back and enjoy a cup of tea.

These rooms have been decorated keeping in line with the needs of our residents with Dementia by keeping the living area as old fashioned looking and homely as possible. We have used specific colours that are in agreement with our residents. You will find hats and scarves throughout the halls hanging on the walls as you would in your own home. Just off Memory Lane is Market Street. Here, you can walk up the gravel and grass covered path where you will see the beautiful murals of shops, churches and post offices of local towns such as Clonberne, Dunmore and Tuam painted on the walls.Central Park Nursing Home based their whole new extension on the learnings of Dementia Care Matters after our Proprietor, Caroline Maguire and Director of Nursing, Stella Grogan, completed studies with Dementia Care Matters last year.

Thanks to Dementia Care Matters we have seen a huge improvement in our residents with dementia. It's amazing how the little things like rummage drawers, hats and jackets hung on the wall or even colours can help someone feel more relaxed and comfortable.

"The pictures on your page are amazing and really make us smile here at Dementia Care Matters. Your care home is truly an example of what it means to improve the quality of life for those with dementia!"
